Frequently Asked Questions about Brew at the Zoo
Q. Where is the event
located?
A. Brew at the Zoo and Wine too is held at the Zoo’s Oasis Festival
Tent, Field and Band Shell on the north end of Zoo, a short walk
from the Zoo plaza and animal exhibits. The Zoo exhibits are open
until 9 p.m. No beer or wine is permitted outside of the Oasis
Festival area.
Q. Can I bring my child and
do I need a ticket for them?
A: Brew at the Zoo is a special ticketed fundraising event designed
for adults who are 21 and over. The theme and focus of the event is
beer and wine tasting. There are no child-based activities. It is
preferable that children are not present. If you absolutely must
bring your child, then you must purchase a designated driver ticket.
Everyone attending Brew at the Zoo must have a ticket. Valid ID is
required for all persons purchasing the “Individual” ticket.
Q. Why don’t Zoo members
receive a discount ticket price?
A: Brew at the Zoo is a special fundraiser produced by the Friends
of the Louisville Zoo (FOZ), a not-for-profit, volunteer,
fundraising organization that raises funds to support the Zoo with
much needed capital improvements and expansion. FOZ also produces
the Zoofari Gala fundraiser that offers no discounts for members.
Your ticket purchase is helping the Louisville Zoo raise funds for
the current Glacier Run Capital Campaign. Additional contributions
are always welcome as well.
Q. Why is the ticket price
higher to purchase at the Zoo Box office or day of the event.
A. Like many concert venues and event
producers, we incentivize advance ticket sales in order to determine
a confirmed attendance for planning purposes. This is particularly
important with food and beverage related events where key supplies
need to be determined in advance. For the last few years Brew at the
Zoo has sold out before the day of the event. So buying your ticket
online and early is the best way to go!
Q. Are you serving other
drinks besides microbrews?
A. Yes, this year we have expanded the event to include wine
tasting. Microbrews are still the mainstay. Over 25 breweries will
be represented. Dasani water, Powerade and Glaceau Vitamin water
will also be available.
Q. What time does the food
tasting occur?
A. Food tastings are available from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Coming early
will enable you to enjoy the largest array from all the restaurants
since some of the most popular items are sampled the fastest.
Q. How long is beer and wine
tastings served?
A. Beer and wine tasting is from 4 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Beer and wine
tastings will only be served in the official 4 oz Brew at the Zoo
tasting cups that are provided at the event.
Q. What time does the
entertainment start? Who is playing and for how long?
A. Two Guys Having Fun will be the Masters of Ceremonies for the
event. Stompbox and Rock Candy will perform live. Bring your lawn chairs and picnic blankets
to lounge on the lawn and enjoy the tunes. Entertainment starts at
4:30 p.m. and ends at 9 p.m.
