Scotty's First Birthday Party!

Turning 1 year old is a big deal—especially if you’re a baby
elephant. Baby Scotty celebrated his 1st birthday with a
cake fit for an elephant, cards and more!
Zoo Admission was just $1 per person courtesy of Coca-Cola. Zoo
Members entered free.
TARC provided FREE transportation to the Zoo from select
locations. Red Box also handed out FREE DVD rental vouchers.

At eleven a.m., Scotty was weighed and measured. He
also demonstrated some of the behaviors he has learned in a training
session. Zoo Director John Walczak talked about
elephants and visitors sang 'Happy Birthday.' Then Scotty ate his birthday cake, specially
prepared by the Zoo’s commissary staff
At three in the afternoon, Scotty once again demonstrated some of the behaviors
he learned in a training session. Scotty then opened some gifts that
were
prepared for him by his keepers.
Throughout the day, guests signed the BIG Happy Birthday banner
for Scotty.

elephant conservation projects around the world. Just drop you
donation off at the Zoo’s front desk or mail it to us. Be sure to

When African elephant Mikki (Scotty’s mom) arrived at the Zoo more than 20 years ago, Elephant Area Supervisor Dave Campbell was there. “This is not a normal 9 to 5 job,” Elephant Area Supervisor Dave Campbell said. On March 18 at 8:45 p.m. Scotty was born. He was the first elephant born in the Zoo’s 38-year history and the first in the state of Kentucky.
