visitors, it’s the animals turn to have fun and get in on the Halloween
action with some treats of their own—pumpkins!
WHEN | Halloween Day! Wednesday, Oct. 31,
2007, starting at 1:30 p.m. with baby Scotty

will take part in the pumpkin enrichment. Key animals, starting at 1:30 p.m.

is his first pumpkin, so who knows what will happen!
-
Polar Bear —You can guarantee our
resident polar bear, Aquila, will dive into this special enrichment!
-
Meerkats —Animal Planet’s Meerkat Manor
has nothing on our meerkats. These comedic animals (actually, they all
are named after famous comedians) will be hilarious to watch as they
investigate the big, strange, round, orange thing!
-
Orangutans —They are known as
captivating engineers, able to take apart anything. So see how they
investigate and dissect the orange pumpkins.
WHY | Animal enrichment is an important
aspect of animal management at the Louisville Zoo and provides animals with
mental and physical stimulation to increase natural and healthy behavior. In
other words making our animals’ lives fun!
