Norton Healthcare Get Healthy Walking Club Expo kicks off the walking season at the Louisville Zoo Feb. 23

Want to get healthy this year? Come to the Zoo and find out how at the annual Norton Healthcare Get Healthy Walking Club Expo on Saturday, Feb. 23 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Health and fitness experts will offer free health screenings, health and fitness displays and advice on starting fitness regimens. There will also be free cooking demonstrations by Julie Terrell with the Louisville Athletic Club in Zoo Vision and The Heuser Clinic will lead group exercise demonstrations on the MetaZoo Stage.

The Expo is free for Get Healthy Walking Club members and Zoo members. (The Norton Healthcare Get Healthy Walking Club is a free adult walking club program that offers safe and invigorating walking privileges through the Zoo. You can join now by calling (502) 629-1234 or register in person at the Expo and enter the Zoo for $5 on Feb. 23.)

The Norton Healthcare Get Healthy Walking Club

The Norton Healthcare Get Healthy Walking Club is a partnership between Norton Healthcare and the Louisville Zoo. The free Get Healthy Walking Club membership includes:

  • Free admission to the Louisville Zoo from 8 to 9:30 a.m. every day except Sunday, March through October and 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays, June through August.

  • $5 off any new Louisville Zoo membership.

  • Best Foot Forward kit, T-shirt, wrist pack, walking log and walking guide.

  • 10 percent discount on any adult guests accompanying you on the walks.

  • Route and distance information for walking at the Zoo (which is 1.1 miles of hard surface walkways with both flat and hilly terrain. Directional signs also give health tips.), the Mall St. Matthews and other suitable sites.

  • Invitations to club activities, including fitness presentations and screenings.

  • Quarterly issues of Get Healthy! Magazine.

  • Group walking excursions throughout the year.
