Baby elephant Scotty goes swimming

 

WHAT | The Louisville Zoo’s 1-year-old baby African elephant Scotty has reached another milestone—learning how to swim! His keepers have been introducing him to the elephant yard pool by filling it up a little more each day, but on July 16 the pool will be filled to the top. This is the first summer Scotty has ever gone swimming.

WHO | Elephant Area Supervisor Dave Campbell will be on hand to answer questions about Scotty and his progression.

WHEN | Wednesday, July 16, 2 p.m.

NOTE | Since Scotty is so small, the public may not be able to see Scotty swimming at all times. So, the media will have special access to the elephant yard pool to capture Scotty’s special swim.

WHERE | Louisville Zoo – Call Public Relations Manager Kara Bussabarger at 502-744-5639 prior to coverage and sign in at the receptionist’s desk in the administration building. You will be escorted to the elephant area.
