Brew at the Zoo & Wine too!
Fifth-annual fundraiser mixes food,
fun and drinks
The fifth-annual “Brew at the Zoo &
Wine too!” fundraiser will be held Aug. 23 from 4 to 9 p.m. at
the Louisville Zoo Oasis field. It will feature beer tasting
from local and regional breweries, a selection of wine and food
from more than 25 local restaurants and vendors. A selection of
non-alcoholic products and water will also be provided. (Food is
available from 4 to 6:30 p.m. and beer and wine tasting is
available until 8:30 p.m.)
Proceeds benefit the Louisville Zoo,
which is a non-profit organization dedicated to bettering the
bond between people and our planet by providing excellent care
for animals, a great experience for visitors and leadership in
scientific research and conservation education.
“We have been busy making sure that we
have great brew, wine and food,” said Audrey Hourigan, event
co-chair. “Everyone who attends is sure to find a lot to taste.”
Stompbox and Rock Candy will perform
live at the event and Two Guys Having Fun will be the Masters of
Ceremonies. Visitors are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and
blankets to lounge on the lawn while enjoying the tunes.
Attendees can also try their hand at
Parrot Dice Casino with black jack and roulette and purchase
chances to win one of several fantasy raffle packages in which
each participating brewery, restaurant and vendor has
contributed items or gift certificates.
“And new this year is the National City
No-Fee-For-All Free-For-All Moneytruck. Four individuals at a
time will step inside the Moneytruck and grab as much money as
they can in 30 seconds,” Hourigan said. “It should be a lot of
fun not only to participate in, but also to watch.”
Tickets for the event are
required and are now available. Price includes admission to the
Zoo, live music, brew, wine and food samplings and official
“Brew at the Zoo & Wine too!” four-ounce tasting glass. You can
also purchase an official “Brew at the Zoo & Wine too!” T-shirt
sponsored by Liquor Barn at the event for only $12.
